Lzip new article content ...
Lzip is a lossless data compression program which uses a simplified version of the LZMA (Lempel-Ziv-Markov chain-algorithm)]], designed by Igor Pavlov. The command-line user interface is similar to that provided by gzip and bzip2 compressors, The main design goal appears to be safe integrity checking. Lzip has several companion utlities which use the same code-base, but provide extra functionality: 'lziprecover ( damaged file recovery), 'Clzip' ( for systems without an installed C++ compiler), Plzip ( multi-threaded compressor ), Lzlib ( compression library ), Zutils ( zdiff/zgrep command replacements ), and Pdlzip ( non-GPL 'public domain' implementation ).
