Overview

edit

Miss Sprint Cup represents Sprint Nextel, the wireless and wireline communications services company that serves as the title sponsor of NASCAR’s premier series, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.[1]

The sport has historically featured “trophy girls,” attractive women who award the trophy to the winning driver in Victory Lane, but the Miss Sprint Cup representatives have evolved beyond that into NASCAR personalities.[2]

While most recognized for appearing in Victory Lane each week, Miss Sprint Cup can be seen at appearances throughout the weekend at every race track where the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competes. She interviews drivers and other NASCAR celebrities, signs autographs, participates in pre-race ceremonies and serves as the “fans’ friend on the inside,” posting information and photos on her social networking pages.[3][4] Most of her time is spent at the Sprint Experience (an at-track mobile display that visits every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race) meeting and entertaining race fans. Miss Sprint Cup also serves as a spokesperson for Sprint on various media outlets. She appears on both local and national radio and television outlets, especially in race markets and was even featured in a national television commercial for Sprint in 2009. Formal interviews are held each year for the Miss Sprint Cup positions. Applicants submit resumes to Sprint through the Marilyn’s Modeling Agency.[5] Applicants must have a college education, a background in public speaking, an outgoing personality and a love for the sport of NASCAR. Sprint then selects the top candidates through a formal interview process.
