Mupewa combined school is situated in Oshikuku near Nuuyoma secondary schoool which lies 30 km in the North east of Oshakati. It was estabilished in 1997 and it was officially inaugurated on 22 July 2007 by the Minister of safety and security Honorable Peter Angula Tsheehama Tshirumbu. This combined consisit of grade 1-7 which accomodates over 500 leaners.It's was named after the headman of Oshikuku village Mr Norbert Tshiningayamwe(Mupewa was his nickname).
Before Mupewa became a combined school it was first a kindergarten with 39 leaners.Mupewa Kindergarten progressed exceptionally well up to 1999 whereby learners had to graduate to primary education.It was therefore on these conditions that school registered with the Ministry of Education.The first school principal was Mrs Gisela Siririka (2001) who was further promoted to another post which led to Ms Nakambonde Johanna to becoming acting Principal from October 2003 to October 2004. The current school Principal, Mr Angala Wilhelm, took over on the 1 November 2004. The school grow rapidly with the help of the Regional Councillor for Oshikuku Constituency, Hon Peter Endjambi and the parents who have they kids enrolling at Mupewa. [1]
Mupewa is well know with a good english standard and due to this Mupewa Primary School was one of the only 6 schools countrywide to win a national essay competition on "Hunger and Poverty Reduction" in the year 2005.Mupewa has been doing well over the past years and it has been running efficiently. The staff at Mupewa see themselfs through into Vision 2030 (Namibia National Vision) where the school will hopefully become a Centre of Excellency. Mupewa currently established international links and friends with educational sites all over the world: Europe, USA and Australia. Which give more courage to the pupils and the teaches at Mupewa to know that they are even recogonised international as a best school in Namibia. It's current plan is to supply a international like service to it's pupils and pledging a strong working ethic. [2]
Mupewa have different sport activities include Soccer, Netball, Althletic etc.Mupewa is ever come number one on Netball team in the whole region under 13 team. Because of their undefeated background,in 2008 to 2010 Mupewa undefeated champion team of netball under 13 turns to represent the whole Omusati region at the National level competetion at Windhoek. Two of Mupewa Netbal team were sellected for international team. It also have various choirs that are form up by the teachers and learners. These choirs usually perform at morning assembly each monday as well as at any social event that may take part at school and during church services where possible. Apart from that Mupewa didnt stay back when it comes to culuters, in 2010 the Mupewa Cultural tropes came number one, when they won a GOLD medal at Omusati cultural competetion. The principal Mr Angala encourage every pupil at his school to take part in sport activities for them to be fit and smart in their school work. [3]
