NISC is an International Baccalaureate World School delivering the three IB programs: IB PYP in the Primary School, IB MYP in the Middle School and the IB DP in the High School. NISC is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) . Students graduating from NISC are accepted to the most prestigious universities world wide.

History

edit

NISC was founded in 1996 and owned until February 2007 by Northbridge Communities Ltd., with its base of operations located in Bangkok, Thailand. In February 2007 the entire Northbridge project – housing community and international school – was purchased by The Royal Group, a diversified company owned and operated from within Cambodia. NISC is a proprietary educational institution fully licensed as an international school with the Cambodian Ministry of Education under the name of International School Cambodia, Ltd.

School Life

edit

NISC is divided into three sections: Primary school (from preK to Grade 6), Middle school (from Grade 7 to Grade 10), and Upper school (Grade 11 and 12), which are all located on the same purpose built campus. The school offers a large number of after school activities and sports teams. NISC is a member of the Mekong River International Schools Association (MRISA), competing against other member schools in sports such as football (soccer), cross country running, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and swimming.

Campus

edit

NISC facilities currently consist of six main buildings located in a spacious, green, purpose build campus. Mature trees and shade, lush tropic landscaping, and abundant green open space, provide a unique learning environment in Phnom Penh. Complementing these facilities is a 25-meter long by six-lane wide competition size swimming pool, tennis courts, and expansive grass playing fields. In February 2013, students moved into a new, purpose build primary school marking completion of the first major phase of campus expansion to accommodate around 1,000 students. The new facility houses grade 2-6 and includes 16 classrooms, art and music studios, a cooking lab, and nine seminar rooms for languages and learning support. The building is highlighted by views of the campus lake, organic garden and sports fields, and expansive covered decks connect and integrate all of the learning areas.

In June 2013 NISC began Phase two of campus development. This phase includes an Early Childhood center for ages 3 to Grade 2. This facility will be enhanced by the massive shade trees located in that area of the campus. In addition, an adjacent Upper School and Primary school libraries is being built, finance, marketing and admissions suites, faculty lounge and a school store and café available to students and families. Like the new primary and ECC, a hallmark of this building will be the abundant outdoor spaces to socialize and congregate. Completion is scheduled for August 2014.

Technology

edit

The use of technology is an integral part of learning at NISC. There are two computer labs in Middle and High school staffed by full time and experienced ICT teachers The school has adopted a BYOD program from Grade 4 to Grade 12 complemented by a school iPad program for students in preK to Grade 3.
