Welcome! I am Nik Walser, born in Canon City, Colorado, U.S., a Risk, Compliance, and Anti-fraud consultant in the Financial Services industry.

Having worked in the banking industry for over 15 years as a Program Office Manager, Project Manager and Subject Matter Expert (SME), and with a background spanning corporate, investment, retail, and private banking, as well as brokerage and insurance, I have gained a deep understanding of financial services challenges and leading practices.

My "day job" is to advise clients on concrete, actionable solutions and strategies which leverage industry best practices to respond to the pressures of risk management and regulatory compliance across topics including BSA/AML regulation, Know-Your-Customer (KYC), Risk Assessments, Examination Procedures, Identity Theft, Fraud, and Authentication threats. In that capacity, I have been lucky enough to work with clients on four continents, including institutions regulated by all major US regulators and numerous other national regulatory bodies around the globe.

Risk, Compliance and Fraud change at light speed, so it's a full-time hobby to stay abreast of the latest in the industry. I read avidly, participate in (and speak at) industry groups and conferences, author reports, and maintain a blog (http://lessriskybiz.blogspot.com/)
