The Devonport Division [1] was a sub- command of the Home Fleet from 1905 to 1912 and later the Reserve Fleet from 1919 to 1931.[1][2]
History
editFirst formation
editThe Devonport Divison was initially established in January 1905 when ships in the Home Fleet that were not deemed suitable for combat readiness were divided into three divisions.[1] The division remained within the Home Fleet until March 1909 when the ships of the three divisions were re-distributed but now came under the command of the new 3rd and 4th Division, Home Fleet as three sub-commands, Devonport, Portsmouth and Rosyth until 1912 when the Home Fleet was re-organised as Home Fleets.[1]
