Namibians do believe in witch doctors.Witch doctors are people who learned to use their power to help them,they claim to heal any disease,make people rich and solve any problem of their clients.These witch doctors are said to be active at night and they do not sleep,and they can put curses on families and people.[1]
Not every witch has learned how to use their powers but were rather born with those specific powers,in other words they inherited them and they cannot change anything about it.[2]
A very wealthy 64 yr old healer in Ohangwena was arrested for intetionally infecting young women for infecting a number of women with HIV.The witchdoctor was arrested the weekend after he was betrayed by one of his mistresses.The woman told police that the witchdoctor was raping and infecting young women who turned up at his house for medical attention.(name known to New Era,2011) The witchdocter confessed that he was HIV positive and police source has claimed that the man had his ARV medication pills in the police cells where he is being held.[3]
