I am a retired elementary school teacher and grandmother of three adorable children. I hope my experience in teaching fourth through sixth grade language arts will help me do some editing for Wikipedia. I also taught "computer literacy" in the 1990's and early 2000's and used LEGO LOGO robots with my students.
My husband and I believe Wikipedia is marvelous and extremely important! When our children were almost ready to begin Kindergarten, we talked about whether we would invest in a set of encyclopedias OR would use the Internet for a reference source. Thank goodness we chose Internet. Soon we were signed-up with the Prodigy service and were so glad we did.
Now, when we need basic, clear information on some topic, we always prefer to start with Wikipedia. So, I think it's time for me to "pay it forward" by helping with editing and other necessary tasks for Wikipedia. I may write some articles as well, as I learn more about the Wikipedia world.
When I don't show up here on Wikipedia for a while, it's because I am involved with my young grandchildren or because my husband and I are traveling. I greatly enjoy providing preschool type day care for our grandchildren, using skills from my years as a Kindergarten through third grade teacher. Also, my husband and I enjoy traveling together, especially when the traveling involves using public transportation, walking, and getting to know the local people.
