editCIESCO Estd. 1956 Citizens' Intellectual, Educational, Social and Cultural Organization which is popularly known by its short nomenclature CIESCO is a prominent socio-cultural and educational organization in Calicut city of Kerala State. Established in the year 1956, CIESCO is now passing through a glorious chapter in its history of vigorous activity and yeomen service to realize its motto 'Service to mankind'. CIESCO celebrated its Golden Jubilee in a fitting manner with a year – long celebration in the year 2006.
HEAD QUARTERS
editThe head quarters of CIESCO situated in a three storied building at Kuttichira, the heart of Thekkepuram, is a traditional Muslim settlement in Calicut city of State of Kerala in India. With a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic cultures Thekkepuram has a distinct culture unseen elsewhere in Kerala. Kuttichira, the large tank lying between two spectacular mosques possessing typical architecture of Kerala had an unparalleled role in the urban fabric of the Thekkepuram. It is a meeting place of people from all walks of life to share their thoughts, ideas an aspirations. It was such a gathering in the year 1956 of a group of youngsters, mainly college students which sowed seeds of a n organization of name and style, CIESCO (Citizens' Intellectual, Educational, Social and Cultural Organization). They aimed at the multi-faceted development of the citizens of society in intellectual, educational, social and cultural spheres. Hence the commencement of CIESCO in the year 1956.
CIESCO which grew from strength at present has four prestigious wings representing teenagers, Youths, Women and Senior Citizens known as CIESCO Balajana Sakhyam, CIESCO Youth Wing, CIESCO Vanitha Vedi and CIESCO Senior Citizens' Forum respectively and two active chapters in Gulf countries of Kuwait and Dubai. In addition to the four wings and two chapters CIESCO, at present, has undertaken twelve working projects namely (1) Public Library and Reading room (2) Girls' Home (Yatheem Khana) (3) Technological Institute and I.T.C (4) T.V. Mammed Koya Memorial Junior School (5) Free Medical Aid Centre (6) Relief Scheme (7) Public Utility Scheme (8) Park and television Complex (9) Information and Guidance Bureau (10) Intellectual and Cultural Meet (11) Projects and Planning Forum and (12) Social Action Group.
