Agnes Kafula a big heroine

edit

Agnes Kafula is a heroine born in Onumba village which is situated in the Etayi constituency. She grew up in Iipanda Yamiti village, attended her lower primary education there and further continued her secondary education in Oshakati. Around 1977 Agnes left the country for Angola with reason of going into exile.[1] With a group of fellow young people, Agnes footed to Angola to a transit camp called Cassinga.Upon arrival Agnes met some soldiers who had just come from training in Russia. They were then also given training by these soldiers about first aid assistance. This training was meant to benefit them so that they knew the basics.

This was a very bad experience for Agnes and her fellow young people who accompanied her as they were harassed by South African soldiers and they had a lack of freedom and this is what motivated Agnes to join the liberation struggle. Currently Agnes Kafula is the Deputy Mayor of the City of Windhoek.[2]
