Followed by the attitude of British officers' housewives who spent most of their time drawing and coloring using water colors when their husbands were working, this attracted the attention of some Malay people at that time who saw painting as a beautiful art. In addition to the entry of Chinese people into our country in the same century, by bringing in the art of acrylic paint and khat painting, the arts in our homeland have been further diversified.

Among the areas that received the influence of the earliest visual arts was in the state of Penang which at that time was a developed strait state and became the focus of various individuals to find a source of income.

Many artistic figures have been born in the state of Penang. Among the earliest were Abdullah Arif, Ibrahim Abu Bakar, Chuah Thean Teng, Khaw Sia, Ju Ping, Lee Cheng and many others. These figures are the ones who have started to spread visual arts to other areas throughout Malaysia.

Many visual artists were born after that. Among them is Tayeb Yop, who sees art as a good medium to express feelings and deliver messages to the public. Began to be active in the early 70s. Tayep Yop exhibitions that were held together with Art+Earth in an exhibition to care for the environment and the latest in April 2007, with Klue at The Attic Bangsar Kuala Lumpur.Among the paintings on display are titled Bentong Island, Flowers in the Sea, Tremors, Perhentian Island and many more.

Like the paintings above that we can see. Tayeb Yop uses a lot of surrealistic principles in which the paintings he draws are related to the environment. In addition, his paintings also use significant color contrasts in certain parts and color waves in his sketches.

Among the examples is the drawing on page 5 titled Blue Lagoon. Waves of color can be seen in the sketch of the sea water, and the sharp color contrast between the blue of the ocean highlights the rubbish that is trying to be emphasized. This shows that Tayep Yop is trying to express his regret in his beautiful seabed painting.

Tayep Yop exhibits many such paintings. One of the most recent examples is at The Attic Bangsar in the campaign to clean the river and the surrounding environment. His beautiful and beautiful painting, although beautiful to the eye, but there is a point of satire in it. Another example of his work is Gegaran, a form of impurity that is in the sea trying to be displayed. His love for the sea and the environment made him prefer to paint such paintings.

Conclusion

edit

Art seems to have played an important role since time immemorial. That is as a medium to release feelings and self-fulfillment. This struggle is continued until now by the new layers. Among them is Tayep Yop who started to venture into this handsome art field in the early 70s. A high desire and a deep interest in the environment and the ocean has led him to choose the medium of painting to release his feelings towards the general public.

Moving alone without a group like previous painters, Tayeb Yop is a famous artist. The role he tries to play and the message he tries to convey to the public through his paintings should not be underestimated. Even though this legendary artis had already pass away in 2014,but his soul are still alive with his art in thoughts and ideas in his paintings to the general public.

This shows that visible art is not just art that can be seen. The message to be conveyed and the role played by the painter should not be forgotten.
