She did the usual school, O and A levels and then a couple of years at St Martins School of Art before going to be a copywriter at Roe Humphries in London. In 1974 she went to Australia on a one way ticket. She met [1] when she was looking for a copywriting job in Sydney. They lived together in Yandina, Birchgrove and Bellingen. Margot had her first exhibition with Watters Gallery in Sydney in 1981, called Yandina, Yandina it was based on the alternative community in Queensland where she and Peter had been living. She has been showing with Watters every two years since, shows include Sevilla Mia, Homage, Magic and Elsewhere and are all based on where she was living at the time. In 1986 Margot married Mike Mullins, Theatre Practitioner, and in 1987 their son Jesse was born in Brisbane. The family moved back to Sydney and then to Sevilla in Spain where she continued to paint the society she was living in. In 1992 the family moved to Barcelona and Margot had two shows in the city before Mike went back to Australia and Jesse and Margot went to England. The last few exhibitions at Watters have been based on Margot’s travels in the far north of Australia; The Kimberleys three years ago and Cape York the present one.
