This is a list of articles where images (or more appropriate ones) would be really great to have:
Rail transportation edit
Stations edit
Track diagrams would also be great for stations
- Minneapolis Great Northern Depot
- The Saint Paul Union Depot article could use an image from when trains were running up until 1971, or at least a better shot of the concourse leading out to the tracks.
Active railroads and subsidiaries edit
Many of these don't have any images. New or updated route maps would also be helpful.
- Airlake Terminal Railway
- Cedar River Railroad
- Cloquet Terminal Railroad
- Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway
- Duluth, Winnipeg and Pacific Railway
- Iowa Interstate Railroad – has a shot, but it's at a poor angle looking up at a bridge
- Minnesota Commercial Railway – has a shot, but it's an obstructed view
- Minnesota, Dakota and Western Railway
- Minnesota Northern Railroad
- Minnesota Prairie Line, Inc.
- Minnesota Southern Railway
- Northern Lines Railway
- Northern Plains Railroad
- Otter Tail Valley Railroad
- Red River Valley and Western Railroad
- Soo Line Railroad – has an image, but at a poor angle (and with a fairly dirty locomotive)
Defunct railroads and interurbans/streetcars edit
- Electric Short Line Railway – "Luce Line"
- Minneapolis, Anoka & Cuyuna Range Railroad and related companies
- Minneapolis, Lyndale and Lake Calhoun Railway – "Motor Line"
- St. Paul & Pacific Railroad – earliest predecessor to Great Northern, started operation in 1862
- Winona and St. Peter Railroad – also started operation in 1862
Bridges edit
- Stone Arch Bridge back when it was carrying trains.
- Northern Pacific Bridge Number 9 from when it carried train traffic
Named trains edit
- Better shots of the Empire Builder:
- More iconic photo for Amtrak (possibly in the mountainous west or along the Mississippi River near Lake City, Minnesota)
- A better view of the train back in the Great Northern era that shows locomotives. A tail-end view of the train might also be nice if it was running with an observation car.
- Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's Twin Cities Zephyr:
- Images showing the evolution of the locomotives from slant-nose to bull-nose would be nice. A side-on view showing the articulation in early trains would also be excellent.
- Milwaukee Road's Twin Cities Hiawatha (aka Hiawatha, Morning Hiawatha, Afternoon Hiawatha):
- The train was orange, so color photos would be desired.
- Good shots with streamlined locomotives in front, both steam and diesel would be good.
- Images showing the evolution of the observation cars into skytop lounge would be excellent (there is a beavertail image, but others would also be good).
- Amtrak also ran a train they called the Twin Cities Hiawatha, which may also be interesting.
- Chicago and North Western Railway's Twin Cities 400
- A shot of the early heavyweight steam version of the train would be good.
- A shot of a drumhead from the steam train era with "The “400”" printed on it.
- A shot of a streamlined diesel train somewhere, particularly with the locomotives included. Color would be desired, since it was yellow and green.
Road transportation edit
Bus providers edit
- Metro Transit – We need a picture of the "BRT" livery (yellow front, yellow/blue swooshes on side)
- U of M Campus Shuttle
- Minnesota Valley Transit Authority
- SouthWest Transit
- Plymouth Metrolink
- Maple Grove Transit
- Scott County Transit
- Metro Mobility
Routes/stations/transitways edit
- List of Metro Transit routes – Popular bus routes could use images. Photos taken at signature locations along the routes (e.g., the 16 at the U of M or state capitol, the 84 in Highland Park or at Rosedale, the 5 at the Midtown Exchange transit center, etc.) would be best.
- Since these mostly only appear as thumbnails (though they should be zoomable), files can be relatively small (1 to 4 megapixels would probably be appropriate)
- U of M Transitway
- I-35W Bus Rapid Transitway
- Particularly 46th Street/Kingfield station
