edit

Situated averagely 45km South east of Okahandja in the Ovitoto constituency (Otjozondjupa Region) is the Okamboro village [1]. Majority of the inhabitants of the Okamboro village are the Otjiherero speaking group followed by Damara and Wambo speaking group. The village is situated in a very mountainous area so less agricultural activities take place and most focus in on the tamed animals such as cattle, goats, sheep and donkeys.

Infrastructure

edit

The village is accessible via gravel road and has good infrastructures that include access to clean water and availability of electricity. The village is commonly known for it being near Von Bach Dam which is one of the famous tourist attractions in Namibia. The nearest clinic and school to the village is located averagely 30km away near Okahandja. [1]

Government Support

edit

Since the village is located far from the clinic, a mobile clinic moves from village to village to provide free medicine to the sick monthly. Not only is the village recognized to be provided free medication monthly but the government also tries by any means to provide subsidies such as food to the unfortunate in the Ovitoto constituency which includes the Okamboro village.

Physical Appearance

edit

There is only one entry point to the village. The village is separated into two parts by a river that flows all the way past Okahandja during the rainy season. The village is so mountainous that you can see houses at the other side of the river from the other side.

The village is soo small that most of the people who live in there are related in one way or another.
