On August 2, 2018, the photos of Hyuna with Pentagon (South Korean band)|Pentagon's E'Dawn were released. Cube Entertainment denied rumors that they were dating but on the late evening of August 2, Hyuna and E’Dawn held an official interview with Yeonhap News, admitting to their relationship since May 2016, after getting to know each other through their project group Triple H promotions.^[63], The company responded to Hyuna’s confirmation of the dating rumors by cancelling all previously planned performances, on-air appearances and fan events including a fan meet-up that was scheduled on the next day, August 4. Fans divided in reactions to the event. Some of fans had expressed public displeasure and some of them call for E'Dwan to be removed from Pentagon, while others have submitted their own petition asking that E'Dawn be retained as a show of support. Especially, Korean fans, unlike international fans, regard the scandal of idol groups negatively. Fans of other idol groups focus on how the company treats on Hyuna and E'Dawn unfairly after releasing the scandal rather than their relationship. On September 13, Cube Entertainment announced that they would be terminating their contracts, citing that they could not "maintain trust" with them.^[64] However, the company announced that they would still remain in discussion with both of them until further notice. On October 5, a related source reported Hyuna and E'Dawn confirmed their departures from Cube Entertainment.^[65] Cube Entertainment cited “loss of trust” as a reason saying "After much deliberation, we've concluded that the trust between the company and the artists had been damaged to a degree that it cannot be restored, leading us to believe expulsion is necessary," in its official statement. On October 15, Cube Entertainment officially confirmed Hyuna's departure. Right after that, hand-written letter by Hyuna to CEO was released via her Instagram revealing that she was treated unfairly by Cube shedding lights on the alleged circumstances of her exit from the company. The letter started, “As you know well, my only sin is working my body to the bond for Cube Entertainment until now”. She also pointed out that she was always on the side of Hong Seung-Sung, who is the founder of Cube Entertainment, when she left JYP Entertainment and when Chairman Hong had a conflict with president Park Choong Min. The letter also shows that Hyuna and E’Dawn realized their departure from Cube Entertainment through the news., After Hyuna officially left Cube Entertainment, she shared a photo of herself via her Instagram on the weight scale showing for her extremely thin figure. One of her fan commented showing concern for extremely thin figure after the event but Hyuna stated, “I have gained weight by exercising and eating well. Don’t worry.” She keeps posting photos by showing her activities, dating with E’dawn and her life without any further mentioning about Cube Entertainment and her standing. There is no an official announcement yet for Hyuna’s new agency and D’dawn’s termination with Cube Entertainment.
