editDavis was married twice, with two sons, Michael and Patrick. Michael, the elder son, died of heart failure at the age of 32 on Christmas Day 1986 (Vanity Fair). Davis was a prominent fundraiser for National Multiple Sclerosis Society through his involvement with their annual Dinner of Champions gala (fortune).
