With the modules from the first week, I learned the basics of editing and creating pages in Wikipedia. I have learned about the rules and suggestions for Wikipedia editors, which articles to edit and not edit, and how to create and editing pages in the sandbox. At the current moment, I still am a little confused about the whole process of creating and editing, but I believe that I will feel more comfortable once I start putting what I learned in the modules into practice. The site itself seems pretty simple and easy to understand and I feel I will be better at navigating it with the more work I do.
Article Evaluation
- I evaluated the article titled "Political Communication".
- This article was about how different types of communication affect policy and political discourse, and how information is processed and analyzed by politicians.
- The article seems unbiased as it just talks about the different forms of communication and how it affects political dialogue, especially with today's changing media landscape .
Article: Reed Kessler
Overall, I would rate this article at about a 5. It has basic information about the equestrian athlete Reed Kessler, however, it does not go in depth to provide a lot of information about her or her background which other articles do for other athletes or prominent figures.
Reed Kessler is a professional Show Jumping competitor based in the United States. After having relocated to the Netherlands for 3 years to run her own competition stable, Kessler has returned home this year to compete in the United States. [1] Kessler graduated from the Professional Children's School in Manhattan before pursuing a career as a professional show jumper but has decided to go back to school and is now enrolled at Columbia University to further her education. Citing a reference on wikipedia is very easy and the modules explained it well. All you have to do is have a reliable source and then click the button to cite it, and paste the link. I always make sure that whatever I am citing has been translated into my own words and that I have not plagiarized anything.
Now that I have completed this homework assignment I am going to watch a movie and go to bed!
