A Taxonomy of Office Chairs is a non-fiction book by furniture designer Jonathan Olivares, outlining the history and development of office chairs. It features an illustrated catalogue of important models, explanations of chair components and a discussion of chair movement. It was first published in 2011 by Phaidon Press. It was shortlisted for the 2011 Bookseller/Diagram Prize for Oddest Title of the Year, which was won that year by the Thai cookbook Cooking with Poo.

editIn his preface, Olivares writes: "As far as I am aware, this book is the first taxonomy of an industrialized object".
The writing of the book was supported by industrial design company Knoll. It took four years to complete.[1]
