Goverment Polytechnic college(G.P.T) is a state Govt. runed Polytechnic college. Its location is in Aynavaram,But the postal address is in Purasaiwalkkam.

History: The Goverment Polytechnic college was opened in 2005 by that time chief minister M.Karunanidhi, with a budget of 50 crores,which is alloter by constiuncy development cost from MP Dayanidhi Maran.

Courses: The College is affilited to TNDTE.There are three courses in the college.They are

Mechatronics Engg
Computer Engg
Information Technology

Strenth: There are about 2 Shifts. One is Ist Shift whil is from 8:00am to 3:30pm. IInd Shift is from 10:00am to 05.30pm .In each shift There a 60 students. Thera are about 1100 students and 100 staffs in College.

Transportation: The College is well connected by MTC Bus. The nearest bus stop is Podi kadai or T.B. Hospital. Buses from C.M.B.T,Egmore,Thiruvamiyur,Perambur,Mint,Villivakkam come here.The nearest railway station is Perambur Railway station.
