This is a draft for a new desktop skin. Its goal is it to foreground the content for the readers without letting page editing slight. Therefor the left sidebar is missing.

Comments, questions etc. can be written on the talk page.

Header edit

In the page header there are three dropdown menus – project, page and user menus – and the search box.

Project menu edit

This menu has the project logo and name as its caption. The menu contains a bigger version of the project logo which links the main page and links independent of the current page including Special:AllPages, Special:RandomPage and the Interaction links.

Page menu edit

The caption of this menu depends on the namespace, e. g. Article or User page. It contains links dependent on the current page including the associated talk or subject page, read, edit, add section, history, watch, the Tools and the Print/export links.

Right next to the menu there are the icons for good article, featured article etc.

User menu edit

When logged in, this menu has the user name as its captions, otherwise the IP address or Not logged in. If not logged in, it contains links to the IP talk page, to the registration page and to the log in form. Accounts see links to user page, his/her talk page, preferences, beta, sandbox, watchlist, contributions, log entries and log out page. If there is a new talk page message, the menu caption and the talk page link are highlighted in orange.

Right next to the menu there are the notification buttons.

Title bar edit

The title bar has a background picture or color depending on the page, by default it is a light shade of gray. The main page does not have any title bar.

It starts with the page title, below it there are

  • the redirected from message,
  • the Wikidata description,
  • links to parent pages
  • and the table of content.

In the table of content all headings of the highest level are numbered consecutively and next to each other separated by •. If there are subsections, its headings are in a dropdown menu beneath the associated heading. Right next to the headings there is the link Entire table of content, by clicking it the present style table of content is expanded.

Page content and edit links edit

Below the title bar there is the content of the current page. Pictures and other files are shown frameless by default, the text flows around them. Running text and the content of <ref> tags are shown in one, two or three columns depending on the window width.

Right next to the section headings there is a pen linking to the edit section page. If there are more than one option to edit, they are all linked in a dropdown menu; on talk pages the dropdown menu of the last heading contains an add section link. If editing of the lead section is activated, there is also a pen right next to the page title.

Bottom bar edit

Below the page content there are the categories, links to sister projects including the Wikidata item, links to other languages and the footer.
