Career

edit

Born in 1977, Ormerod turned professional in 1994. He recorded the best finish of his career at two ranking events in 1997, reaching the fourth qualifying round at the European Open and the Thailand Open. In the former, Steve Meakin defeated him 5–3, while the latter concluded with a loss by the same scoreline to Michael Duffy.

This moderate progress, coupled with a world ranking of 308th, was not enough to keep Ormerod on the tour for the following season, and he was forced to enter UK Tour events to re-qualify.

Ormerod was successful in these attempts, but dropped off the tour again at the end of the 1998/1999 season, ranked 265th.

Having entered qualifying for the World Championship during the 2000s, most notably losing 5–10 to Jimmy Robertson in 2008, Ormerod played in several Players Tour Championship events at the start of the next decade. He entered Q-School in 2015 in an attempt to re-qualify as a professional, but lost to Andy Hicks and Jack Bradford respectively.
