Ron Florax (born 29 November 1987) is a Dutch-Swedish amateur snooker player, archivist and occasional reporter, currently based in Sweden.

Career

edit

Born in 1987, Florax set up a website named CueTracker in 2011, with the intention of building a comprehensive database of snooker tournaments, players, results and scores. CueTracker became the most detailed source for snooker-related information available on the internet, and led to Florax becoming relatively well-known among fans and players of the sport.

Florax has also pursued a career as an amateur snooker player himself; in the 2011/2012 season, he entered qualifying for the Paul Hunter Classic, losing 1–4 to Andreas Ploner. The following season he again played in the Paul Hunter Classic, this time being defeated 0–4 by John Astley.

Florax entered two tournaments in the 2013/2014 season, the Rotterdam Open, where he lost 0–4 to Alain Vandersteen, and the Antwerp Open, where he took the first frame but lost 1–4 to Charlie Walters. The next season was similar, with defeats at the first attempt in both the Riga Open, losing 1–4 to Ryan Causton, and the Gdynia Open, where he exited 0–4 to Marc Davis.

Florax began his 2015/2016 season by entering the Paul Hunter Classic for the first time in three years, but lost 0–4 to Frenchman Stephane Ochoiski.[2]

Broadcasting career

edit

Away from the table and CueTracker, Florax occasionally commentates on snooker tournaments for the Dutch version of Eurosport.[3]
