Formation of Final Boss

edit

Final Boss was a team of professional gamers that was founded by OGRE 1, OGRE 2, Walshy, and Saiyan after they split from Team 3D in favor of an MLG contract in early 2006. The team almost exclusively played at MLG events and was one of the top ranking teams within the league.

Halo 2

edit

2006

edit

With their previous success in many different events, Gilbert Arenas decided to sponsor them from 2006 to 2008. Final Boss holds the 8 event winning streak from 2005 - 2006 season that was ended by Carbon in Orlando during mid 2006 season. FB would fall to Carbon next two events, one of which is the 2006 National Championship. After the dissapointing loss, the team would release Saiyan and acquire StrongSide. This would be the first team change that would be made in more than a year.

2007

edit

With StrongSide they won the first 2 events of the 2007 season (Charlotte and Meadowlands) but then lost in Dallas to Carbon. Final Boss won the next event (Chicago) before losing to newly formed Str8 Rippin in Orlando. Str8's win marked the first time that a team other than Final Boss or Carbon had won a tournament since the 2005 season. FB would win the 2007 National Championships in a dominating fashion - undefeated which displayed their dominance in Halo 2. They would also win 2007 MLG event in Toronto while focusing mainly on Halo 3.

Halo 3

edit

2008

edit

Final Boss transitioned smoothly into Halo 3 with a victory at the inaugural Halo 3 MLG Tournament in New Jersey in 2008, taking down Team Classic in the Championship Match. After missing the finals in the next two events, Final Boss dropped their team captain, Walshy. To replace him, they added former Str8 Rippin member Neighbor. They placed 3rd at Toronto and Dallas. At MLG Las Vegas (National Championships) the team again failed to reach the finals after losing to Carbon. This was the first time the Ogre brothers did not make it into the National Championship Finals, taking the fourth spot.

2009

edit

2009 saw Neighbor and StrongSide leave the team as well as OGRE 1 in rumored retirement. Because of this, OGRE 2 had to restart the team from scratch. His first pickup was FearItSelf, a former Triggers Down member. They then added one of the best duos on the pro circuit, Mackeo and Victory X. At the 2009 MLG opener (Meadowlands) the team finished in fifth. At the next event (Columbus), Final Boss placed third after losing to Triggers Down again. For the following event (Dallas), Final Boss replaced Mackeo with StrongSide and finished fifth. FearItSelf then decided to file for free agency and moved to Instinct. To replace him, the team acquired Soviet. In Anaheim, Final Boss finished outside of the Top 8 for the first time in team's history. Following the disappointing finish Soviet retired, and was released from the team prior to Orlando and was replaced by Sypher. At Orlando they placed eighth after entering the championships in sixth seed.

2010

edit

2010 season saw the return of a former member, FearItSelf. With him, he brought up and coming player ToTz. Final Boss steam rolled through the winners bracket until the semi finals where they lost to Classic and steamed rolled again until Losers Bracket Finals where they lost to Classic again, taking 3rd spot. After the event, ToTz filed for free agency to Triggers Down. Following this, team added 3-time MVP of the 2009 season, iGotUrPistola from the same team for Columbus '10.
