== 4 (Ardmore) Squadron Air Training Corps (NZ) ==

4 (Ardmore) Squadron Air Training Corps is a squadron of the New Zealand Cadet Forces, based at Ardmore Airport in South Auckland, New Zealand.

Ardmore Squadron (Formally Papakura) was established at the former RNZAF Station, Ardmore in 19XX. During its time, it has been based at Ardmore, with the exception of a short period of time, where the squadron was based alongside the City of Papakura Cadet unit in Papakura while new premises were constructed. The new building, the Jeff Magilsen Complex, was opened by the Chief of Air Force Air Vice Marshall Hamilton in a ceremony in 2001.

The squadron continues to parade at this complex.

General

The Squadron parades every Monday during the secondary school term (Except public holidays). The unit offers a wide range of activities outside of the Monday night parades, which includes:

Flight experiences (fixed wing, gliders, helicopters)
bush craft (Camping, tramping)
Military life experiences (Visits to military establishments)
Firearms Training
Community assistance

Monday night parades cover a broad range of topics, some which can earn NCEA credits. Subjects taught include:

Aviation Theory
NZCF / NZDF Knowledge
Unit History
Meteorology
First Aid
Flight Simulator training
Leadership Training
Activity/Mission Planning

Eligibility

The Air Training Corps is open to all physically fit males and females between the ages of 13 and 18 years. The ATC offers so many more challenging activities than other similar organisations in New Zealand.

To join the Air Training Corps, you must meet the following criteria: ◾Aged 13 - 15. ◾Be of sufficient health standard and physical fitness such that you are able to participate in the majority of the unit activities.
