William Burke Belknap (the elder) (1811–1884) was the founder of Belknap Hardware and Manufacturing Company. He was the father of William Richardson Belknap and Colonel Morris Burke Belknap. He was born May 17, 1811 in Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, United States of America. He died February 24, 1889 in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky.

editHe was the oldest of six children and the only son of William Belknap (1740 – 1820) and Anna Burke (alternative spelling Burk) Richardson (born in 1748), both native citizens of Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts. [1] . He was the husband of Phoebe Locke Thompson (1788 – 1873).
