THE HEADLESS NUN is a ghost which appears to travelers along the King George Highway and throughout French Fort Cove in Nordin now the City of Miramichi, New Brunswick.
The true identity of the nun is not known, nor is the period in which she was murdered. Legend has it that a ship came up the Miramichi River with pirates on board – anchoring off the entrance at the French Fort Cove. They came ashore with boxes of gold and other treasures. These were buried under the trees or rocks on the north side of the bridge.The deadly deed took place at Corneille (Crow Brook). Today on that infamous spot, a bridge spans the brook that flows into the cove.
