Reading the tabula rasa article showed me just how new to the whole experience of Wikipedia that I am. When I first decided to read the article I had no idea how in depth the concept of two small words really was. The first lesson I learned with Wikipedia was to throw out all expectations and assumptions about a topic or article. The reason my expectations were shattered about tabula rasa was because of how in depth this concept goes, as well as the Talk Page attached to the article.

When I started to review the article, I expected to be learning about the Enlightenment Period concept from John Locke that describes the blank canvass that each person is born with. What that person becomes is based on their experiences and the values that they are raised with. I like to call it being a product of your environment. This concept goes back many centuries before being published in the book "Treatise on Human Understanding" (1690). This concept was not an original ideal, but how it was applied to the current situation within European society in the 17th and 18th proved to be unique in it's own right.

Being new to Wikipedia, I thought it was an excellent article that covered tabula rasa completely and thoroughly. The Talk Page of this article showed many people challenging the neutrality and sources of information on this topic. I found this eye opening, but in a positive manner. With so many people challenging the information, it led to edits and lively discussions about what should and should not belong in the article. Talk Pages like these are what I think can make topics and pages great. MikeMorland (talk) 06:44, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
