Etaka

Etaka is a natural lake in the northern Namibia. It is situated near Epalela settlement about 40km west of Outapi town and about 10km north of Onesi settlement in Omusati Region.It lies at Latitude. -17.8833333°, Longitude. 15.1166667[1]. Etaka is one of the potential places for inland aquaculture and holiday destination in the country. It has alot of fish species such as Tilapia, Catfish and Tiger fish. The place is also ideal for leisure activities such as swimming, fishing etc. It is a gateway to Ruacana town, Ruacana waterfalls, Mahanene and Calluenge border posts. If well-developed it will attract more investors into the area.Currently the Etaka is being utilised by small business people,by growing a variety of vegetables and sell them at local markets.The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has 12 fish ponds at the Epalela Inland Aquaculture next to Etaka.[2]
