Charles Ofria is a faculty member in the department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University. He is the director of the Digtial Evolution Lab (Devolab) and leads the development of the Avida software platform. His research focuses on populations of digital organisms (self-replicating and evolving computer programs), which he uses to understand open questions in Evolutionary Biology and can be applied to problems in Computer Science
