Choudhary Zia Imam (born 28 May 1979) is a young Indian Journalist and writer from Lucknow. Regularly writing columns for leading newspapers simultaneously publishing from Lucknow and Delhi. He was the claimant for youngest biography author Guinness book of World Records in the year 2006 and was youngest author of Penguin books (India) in 2008.
Zia was born in Lucknow capital city of Uttar Pradesh in a Muslim family, belonging to a Taluqdar family. His Father Choudhary Abbas Husain was Taluqdar of Ghazipur, Lko distt. was an associate member of British India Association, Lucknow. His Grand Father Choudhary Mustufa Husain was a renowned poet and the author of Aaurag-e-Parisha (Ill at ease) a collection of Urdu Poetry.
Zia was educated at Colvin Talauqdar’s College one of the most reputed college in India. Completed his Graduation from Lucknow University, also hold PGJMC and Masters Degree in Library and Information Science. He has the credit of writing the first biography of eminent music director Naushad by the name Zarra jo Aftab Bana published by Penguin Books (India) was released by His Excellency Vice President of India Shri Hamid Ansari sb on dated 26th May 2008, Vice President House, New Delhi. He had also authored the first biography of legendary play back singer Mohd.Rafi by the name Payember-e-Mausiqi published from Harper Collins (India) this book was presented to His Excellency Vice President of India Shri Hamid Ansari sb on dated 12th Sep 2011, Vice President House, New Delhi. Beside this he had completed the Biography of Bharat Ratan Lata Mangeshker by the name Mari Aawaz Hi Phachan Hai is under publication and also completed the biography of Dilip Kumar which is yet to be finalized. Presently he is working on a project by the name Luster of Journalism in Indian Cinema.
He had translated a series of twelve books of renowned Urdu author Ibnay Safi’s fiction from Urdu to Hindi. Which are as Dilare Muzrim, Jungle mey Laash, Aurot Faroosh ka Hattayara, Tizori ka Rahasay, Faridi aur Leonardo, Kuway ka Raz, Chalbaz Buhara, Nakli Naak, Jahanum ki Apsara, Nilay Parinday, Sapoo key Shikary and Bhaynak Aadmi published from Harper Collins (India) in the year 2009-10.
He was nominated for 54th and 55th National Film Award for best critics on cinema in the year 2006 and 2007, whereas nominated for 56th and 59th National Film Award for best book on cinema in the year 2008 and 2011
