editDefenseWeb was founded in 1998 by John Paul Cavanaugh based on his experience with Cornell University in developing applications for Department of Defense family programs. DefenseWeb was formed to offer a more flexible, rapidly deployable, user-focused alternative. In March 2007, DefenseWeb was acquired by, and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Humana Inc.
