Background edit

I am a born and raised Ohioin. As the the fifth of six children, all I have known my whole life is nothing but organized chaos. Each of my siblings is motivated and headstrong, so survival in my house was, and is, a demanding task. If you have not asked for my opinion about a certain topic, I would advise against it, because a decided stance on a topic is something I am liable to have. My parents raised me to always, always pursue my dreams and never give up on my goals. Perhaps this advice was what prompted me to transfer to a boarding school in Rhode Island, after freshman year of high school, in pursuit of a career path I would soon find out was not meant for me. After two years on the east coast, I transferred back to my high school in Ohio, just in time to start the college application process. I did not really have a method to my application madness. Somehow, I wound up in Milwaukee. After a rough freshman year, I met some friends I am sure I will have for the rest of my life and have discovered a career path that excites and energizes me.

Current Interests edit

I am an avid runner aspiring to a career as a medical doctor, majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in neuroscience. The power of laughing, sweating, and a good meal are three beliefs that I hold dearest to my heart. I love my family, my friends, baking, and learning, among other things. I work in two research labs, am a dedicated vegetarian, and a volunteer at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin on Friday nights, where I can be found contently rocking sick babies to sleep. I also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate enough to have taken medical mission trips to Kathmandu, Nepal and Costa Rica.

Below is a link about the many benefits of running. I like what the article says a lot. Hopefully it converts one or two!
