Sauyemwa

Sauyemwa, also known as West Side, is a location south west of Rundu Border by the Rundu-Nkurenkuru road to the South, Tutungeni and Qweens Park to the East, Kasote Village to the West and the kavango river ( also known by the angolans as Kuvangu) on the North. This was the worst ever place to live in during the 60s to the early 2000s because of it's high crime second to none other than Donkerhoek of Keetmanshoop at that time. Sauyemwa was the 1st rural location in Rundu to have a clinic, police station, well structured gravel streets, street lights and electricity service as well as running water. Sauyemwa is also known for producing good Quality footballers who have contributed to the growth of football in the Kavango region. Among them former United Star playmaker Illarius Anton who was so talented with his feet on the ball. Anton was the Eden Hazard of the aforementioned team and was once called for trials for the National team. It's a pity that most players of His generation couldn't make it far in their football careers with factors ranging from Alcohol abuse, lack of proper sport infrastructures, funding and etc being a hindering factor.

Housing and other infrastructures

Sauyemwa have to tarre roads. The popular Independence road which host almost all the shopping centres and entertainment places in this wonderful location. This divide Sauyemwa into North and South. We also have Rundu- Nkurenkuru road running on the southern edge of the location. The rest are gravels and sandy streets. Sauyemwa have a Junior Primary School and a combined school to the west which all bear the name of the location. The Junior primary school run from grade 1 to 4 while the combined school is from grade 5 to 10. Sauyemwa also have a modern secondary school, Elia Neromba to be precise, which run from grade Eight to Twelve. The location  have a Poli Clinic, the biggest in Rundu. It also have a police station. Building ranges from modern to traditional houses. A number of supermarkets can   also be found in this location, Woermann Brock super market is one example. By the turn of the millennium, the Government helps with the construction of the Sauyemwa Supermarket where locals sells different type of goods.

Crime

To the date of this writing, the author wasn't in position  of the exact statistical figures of the crime rate in the location, but in general, crime was very high which can be attributed to the emergency of rap music in the 80s till early 2000 and this lifestyle was one of the driving factor for high crime among others. Gang groups such as Death Row, Fugees, West Side, Tkzee and etc where formed by the Sauyemwa youth. High failure rate and drop out couple with high teenage pregnancy riped in the above mentioned period.

Composition of the Society

If there is a place in Rundu where you find almost  every tribe, the answer is  Sauyemwa. The Majority are Nyemba( Ngangela) and Chokwe, Follow by Ovimbundu, Vambos, Kwangali and some other Kavango tribes forming the  minorities.  The  Ngangela also known as Nyemba in Kavango region, together with the Ovimbundu and Chokwes, are immigrants from Angola who flock to Namibia in   the 70s as  a result of the Portuguese-Angola war and The MPLA- UNITA war. It's believed that some even came earlier than this time as they were working in South African Mines.

Entertainments

Sauyemwa is known for it's pantsula and hip-hop life, hence more night clubs, bar and casinos. All these are located on the popular Independence Road. One of Namibia famous artist Gazlam Shiimi aka Gazza went to perform there in 2006. Among the most famous clubs are; Sauyemwa Inn, Vibe Village, and Efundula. There are also other emerging bars.

Sauyemwa is also known for it's musical talent. B-Square and Tommy are among some of Namibia's top artists as the former finish second to the dogg some years back for most played songs in Juke boxes and Namibia's radio stations. And the later won Best Afro pop award at Namibia Annual Music Awards ( NAMA) in 2011.

Sauyemwa location

Sauyemwa is the location in the Northeast of Namibia, In kavango Region, Rundu Rural-west constituency. Sauyemwa is a big location in Rundu. my village is famous for several amazing natural features. first is noted of Kavango River,which is very wide and beutiful which make Sauyemwa village people so pride to leave in.On other side of the river,ther is our neibour country which is Angola. Also, on side of Angola there is a beach where History of Namibia citizens and Angolan citizens meet and make sports and playgame. is actually so enjoyable to be in Sauyemwa.Even though it is steep in the river,but is not dangerous. the third amazing features is the Big old tree which has a big history to mbuza tribe in kavango region.

In sauyemwa is just amazing location in this most of kavango local musicions where born in this for examples Tommy this is the most talent musics he got an award Afro pop, and he was the first musicsion to get an awards in Kavango region.Also, B-square this one is the artist who won to be a second salary payers to Namibians artist from NASCAMMusic of Namibia.he was second to the well known kwaito master in Namibia which is The Dogg.

Differentiating my location with the city

This Location Sauyemwa is composed of small population that is not advanced whereas a city is very advanced and has large population. Life in a Location is completely different from life in a city. This difference is like distinction between earth and sky. These lifestyles are totally different from each other. It is hard to find similarities between persons of different characteristics and same as with life in villages and cities. Cities are getting more advanced everyday and it has forced people to leave their location pride behind and become more city oriented. City and Location life has characteristic that are similar and different. township life and city life are some what provincial. People can't think of a life beyond the boundaries of their village or their city. I think that town ship life are the best place to live, and people living in urban places think that they are more fortunate. There are some similarities between both locations. Children in the in my location have their desires and ambitions like city children. They also want to be something in their lives. Villagers, like urban people, are hard workers.

Education is the fundamental step for a child to begin his life. In this technology advanced society, a person can't do anything without education. Children in the cities are fortunate enough to have schools. Every child goes to school with his aim focused, but children in villages don't have this opportunity. Villages can't afford schools. Instead of going to schools, the children go to fields to work and to support their families. Their aims mix with that soil. Maybe some children have dreams to be well educated, but their dreams shatter because they don't get the opportunity to fulfill it.

City life is civilized and advanced; whereas location life is uncivilized and not advanced. Cities have facilities to such an extent that it is difficult for some town to achieve these facilities. Their standard of living is very high as compared to town people. Still both lives have significance of their own. Cities were a part of villages someday. It is only the human mind that makes cities more advanced than the villages and here education plays a major part. Education makes the mind broad

Sauyemwa village has few resouses to manage their works and their daily needs. this things is what had delayed the infomal setlement development. But even through they had little resources they location and the help of rundu town councel they had help the location to receive/archieve someething like tape, electricity and they have facility such as clinics which is called as Sauyemwa clinics, which helps people who are sick before taking them to the state hospital. moreover, they have open market which they sell their products to find living. The republic of Namibia they have provide them with their service for puttina police station to avoid criminal activities such as stealing,murder,Cannabis (drug) and others bad activities.
