The successful Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup bid has been struck over several controversies, regarding allegations of bribery, the hot climate, the areas where alcohol can be consumed, the illegal position of homosexuality in Qatar, allegations of slave labour, and tensions with Israel.

Allegations of bribery

Before their successful bid, On 2 December 2010 it was announced that Qatar would host the 2022 Fifa World Cup following the 22 executive member countries of FIFA partaking in a secret ballot in Zurich, Switzerland, after they beat the United States of America 2022 FIFA World Cup bid by 14-8.[1]

Climate

In their bid, Qatar promised that the stadiums would be climate-controlled, as temperatures in summer can reach up to 50C
