B-Street Rib Off The B Street Rib Off was founded in 2008 by Jason Brown, Justin Hinton and Matthew Ross as a friendly competition to establish the “best rib cooker” in the group. <>

2008

edit

In the first year of the competition, there were five teams and five judges. The teams began cooking on the morning of November 10, 2008, as early as 3 am and stopped cooking at 1:15 pm. The ribs were judged based upon five categories: appearance or presentation, taste, smell, intangibles, and texture. The first winner was Smokin Tee Pees.

2009

edit

After hosting 5 teams in their backyard the first year, the 3 decided to continue the competition in 2009, when the competition moved to Murray Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. The second year of the competition included 12 competing teams and over 100 spectators.

2010

edit

In 2010, the competition was held at Interstate Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. A total of 20 teams entered the competition, but two dropped out before the competition began.

Once again, a team captained by Sean Conrad, which was named "Big Shoes", won the competition.

Sighting

edit

2008 Competition Judge Matt Runge came out of hiding to visit the 2010 Competition, so he could "see what all the fuss was about." He remarked that he heard about the 2010 Competition from "a press release put out by founder J. Brown. After drinking a few Miller Lites, he stated, "Wow! There are 4 times as many teams entered into this competition from 2008."
