edit== ATHLETE BIO == Matthew Lackey Vining is a versatile athlete that concentrated on the decathlon in track and field at [Arkansas State University]from 2004-2008. Matt is the two time indoor Sun Belt Conference champion in the Heptathlon. Upon graduating from Arkansas State University he held the Sun Belt Conference record in the Heptathlon with 5193 pts. He is also the two time Outdoor Sun Belt Conference Champion in the [Decathlon]. He is a 23 time All Sun Belt Performer and apart of two Conference Championships in 2005 and 2007.
== COACHING BIO == "Coach V" has been a coach at [Arkansas State University] since 2008 concentrating his skills on the vertical jumps and the multi events. Matt has in his brief coaching career coached 17 all conference performers as well as two conference champions. His most notable accomplishments include coaching a sweep of the SUNBELT Conference Decathlon in 2011 and co-coaching 2011 outdoor NCAA All-American Stephanie Foreman.
BIO
editMatthew Lackey Vining was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on May 12, 1984. Matt is the son of Bill Jr. and Marsha Vining. Matt has two siblings, Kristen, 2 years older, and Mark 5 years younger. He grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and attended Lighthouse Christian School through his freshman year. The following year he and his family moved back to Arkansas to Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton High School. While in high school Matt participated in football, basketball, baseball, cross country, and track and field. His senior season Matt was an All State performer in both basketball and track and field in the high jump and decathlon. He also went on to win the State Decathlon title edging out [Wallace Spearmon]. Matt then signed his letter of intent to run track for ASU with Jay Flannigan and Lon Badeaux.
