A review by T.W. Rowell of the Bedford Institute of Oceanography noted many gaps and inconsistencies, but praised the FishBase project as becoming a useful tool once it matures and lives up to its potential.[1] R.J. Wootton of the University of Wales wrote that FishBase could be of incalculable value if its potential could be tapped, but lamented that important data sources had not yet been included.[2]
