Released 1.17!
After what seemed like forever, we finally got 1.17 released. And there was much rejoicing.
1.18 Code Review and blocker bugs
Code review of MediaWiki core began looking spectacular today. Our reviewers are really getting it going. It almost looks like we can make this a sustainable practice.
Debian HipHop package
I found the start to creating a Debian package for HipHop and took it farther. HipHop requires some patches to libcurl and libevent, but from a quick glance it looks like the patches shouldn't be a problem to integrate into their respective Debian packages if not upstream. I don't quite have a package built, but when I do, I'll post everything to my blog.
Noticed SPQRobin was tearing up Bug #6100 (RTL fixes) and chatted with him.
Somehow, when we were both in Berlin and he introduced himself to me there, I managed to forget meeting him. He quickly made himself memorable by making some real progress on the RTL work. By the time the Wikimania Hack-a-thon comes around we may have a really workable codebase for mixing up RTL and LTR scripts.
Johannes Weberhofer reported a problem with MySQL cluster and the upgrade to MW 1.17
Tim asked me to spend some time getting a backtrace, but, despite following the directions, I couldn't get a package built that had them. Tim managed to get a backtrace and updated the upstream bug. It is kind of surprising that a bug this easy to trigger is in production code.
