Early life

edit

Ramin Natig oglu Jafarov was born on February 26, 1981 in the city of Baku.[1] Ramin entered the 1st grade of school No. 6 in 1987 and graduated from the 10th grade of that school in 1997. In the same year he was admitted to the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports.[1]

In 1998, along with the university, he began working as a lighting engineer on Space TV.[1] A year later, he continued to work as a cameraman for the channel, and in 1999 he expanded his television career by taking Internews media courses.[1]

Career

edit

In 2002, he continued to work as a special correspondent and operator at Caspian.net (now Khabar TV), and from 2005 to 2012 he worked as a site operator.[1] In 2012-2016, he was appointed director of the film crew.[1]

In 2016, Ramin Jafarov co-founded "Djafarov Creative" in Ukraine with producer Idris Jafarov and became self-employed. In 2019, their cooperation ended.[2]

Ramin Jafarov was appointed technical director of Baku TV, founded by journalist Orkhan Mammadov[3] in 2019, and appointed director in 2020.[4][5][6][7] Ramin Jafarov explains the history and activity of Baku TV as follows: "When Baku TV was created, we saw that in the age of high Internet technologies, people want to get information very quickly. Internet TV plays an important role in terms of efficiency. You know, recently, "fake video" events have been manifesting themselves. Internet television must stand guard over its accuracy and be promptly selected for its work and quick response to events. Baku TV was born under the influence of these ideas."[8]

Baku TV was approved by the YouTube platform in 2020, and in 2021 it was included in the list of international news platforms by Google.[9][10]

On December 18, 2021, Baku TV, led by Ramin Jafarov, won the "Netty" Award as the Best Internet TV of the Year.[11][12][13][14][15]
