Manimal is a Rock and Roll saga that began in January of 1980 with the birth of founding member Nathan C. Founding members Joeseph W's birth and eventually the birth of Troy M were soon to follow and shortly thereafter the saga had begun. Manimal the band began in late 1981 and continues to the present day.
The first song "Like Your Mother" was created during an intense collaboration between Troy and Nathan in Troy's mom's living room while the duo were drunk on approximately 20 Natural Ice Light Beers. An electronic beat was laid down into Nathan's cassette 4-track recorder and the duo spontaneously picked up 2 microphones and began chanting "Girl, Girl so sexy, like your mother, like your mother, mother". These were to be all of the lyrics for the song. Later additional percussion overdubs were applied by Nathan.
The song became something of a hit in the rock and dance underground, gaining popularity through its constant rotation in clubs across the country.
An ending was amended by Joe that featured extreme manipulations of Troy's guitar solo at the end of the song.
This second, rare version of the song is said to fetch upwards of 10,000 dollars on ebay if you can even find a copy.
Recent jam sessions have yielded many more songs such as "Pierre", "America, We're Doin' Alright", "Diabolical", and "Hoe, You Know I'm The Man".
The epic song "Juan On Juan" deals with Puerto Rican Gang violence in America.
The band is said to be preparing their first single, the double A side "America, We're Doin' Alright" b/w "Pierre". The first song deals with the trappings of being an American Citizen while the Second is a slam on the entire history and country of France with such lyrics as "France is the land of mediocrity".
The band is also rumored to have preformed secret shows with the American flag as a backdrop, wearing American flag pants and burning pictures of Camus and Truffaut.
Manimal claims to have over 5,000 songs written but most have not yet been properly recorded.
Nathan C. is currently building a recording studio in Chicago and hopes to use it to work on Manimal tracks as soon as early 2008.
Troy and Joseph still live in Indianapolis and are just doing their things.
The band is currently not signed to a label.
When interviewed from his home in Indianapolis in late December of 2007 Joe had this to say of his involvement in the band: "Describe me as a famed daredevil and a race car driver."
Another interview with founding member Nathan C. from his new home in Chicago of this year found him saying this: "We're actually sort of good, in a bad way."
A final interview with Troy from his home Via telephone contained these prophetic words from the band's enigmatic frontman: "Jean Luc Godard? Jean Luc Picard".
