[1]Special Olympics Young Athlete is a sports and sporting activity for children, anyone 2 to 7 years of age who can also play special children who are victims of intellectual disability. [2]Young athletes are taught in general sports skills such as running, kicking and throwing. This program gives families, teachers, service providers, close people and everyone in the society a chance to share sports with pleasure. Children benefit and benefit from all the capabilities.Children learn how to play with everyone and develop the skills needed to learn. Besides, the children learn to share, learn to travel and follow the instructions. These skills help the children in family, community and school activities.Young Athletes is a delightful program to keep children healthy. It is important to develop healthy hygiene practices from childhood. They are used to take physical exercise, friendship and education for the children throughout their life. Young athletes [1]are easy and fun for everyone. It can be in the house, at school or in the mahalla. It is possible to manage it anywhere, according to the guidance of the Young Athletes' Activities, if there are some common ingredients.Through the young athletes, all the children, their families and the people of the mahalla become part of a team.Young athletes welcome children and their families to the special Olympics.

There are several goals of this program.

  • 1. Children with normal and intellectual disabilities will play together and know each other and understand them.
  • 2. Arrange for everyone to play in school, mohalla and house as part of society.
  • 3. To teach children's work and play according to the skill and eligibility steps.
  • 4. The importance of how the special Olympics can help the family.
  • 5. It is shown that all children should be evaluated according to their talents and skill .

School Model Young Athlete Program

In this model Children play in school with some instrument . Children feel happy in school by playing this game with the Young Athletes . Like this way they become a Young Athlete and win the world Special Olympics .This young athletic program is being run in about 400 schools in Bangladesh. All the schools have been given 1 set of toy bags. The kids are very happy playing this fun toy with fun toys and becoming more and more mentally and physically fit. School teachers, mothers, parents, all are participating in the match, because the game is very interesting to the children.

Children generally play with parents and other members of the family . Parents play a pivotal role to develop their children in this home model game. Gradually and day by day they become a great Athlete.In this model the children play the game with mother, father, and other family members. As a result, their mental and physical strength increases. In doing so, he became an ideal athlete. So the importance of home models is essential for the young athletes program.

3. Community Model : edit

Community model is very much helpful to improve the skills of Special children . Neighbor help them as much as they can to develop the Young Athlete . In this model special children play with the neighbor, parents, and so on .Everyone in the area participates in this model. Neighbors have helped very much in this program, especially women help in community based programs

Activities of Young Athlete Program edit

Motor skills:[3] edit

Some children with intellectual disabilities participated in eight weeks of Young Athletes' syllabus. It can be seen, they have improved in seven months with motor skills. And compared to those who did not participate in this program, they were found to have improved in motor skills[4] for three months.

Social, emotional and learning skills: edit

The intellectuals who took part in the activities of the disabled children, Young Athletes, Baba - Mothers and teachers said that the skills acquired by the children here are in their pre-primary school. In this program the children were very interested and confident. They played well with other children

Preparations for sports : edit

Young athletes[5] help children to move around and develop sports skills. As these skills grow, they will help to make more sport.

Acceptance: edit

In addition to intellectual disability, party sports are good for all children. Their understanding is good and mentality is created.

Basic Skills:[6] edit

Children are aware of the relationship between themselves and the surrounding areas. They are aware of the relationship between themselves and the surroundings. They are also aware of their health and well-being. Consciousness, energy, flexibility, coordination and tolerance of the body are very much needed in social life. Build the core of these basic values ​​in children. This is very important for home, school and society.

Handkerchief game: edit

In this game children will need to rotate the napkins in front of their eyes and eyes and look at their handkerchief. Suddenly you have to throw this handkerchief and tell them to take the handkerchief. He can catch the handkerchief with his hand, his feet, or any part of body

Group Play: edit

Children can play the game by throwing a handkerchief towards each other. In that case, grab a handkerchief and grab a handkerchief. The game can be managed by learning the name, color, or animal names at one time

I Spy Game : edit

The game was organized to enhance the observation of the children. They are called around to better notice. Then name the name of a particular object and the children bring it. The color and shape are also associated with the game gradually. Sometimes it is played with healthier objects.

Obstacles Game: edit

There are many obstacles to this game. That's why any object can be used. For example, a child may be a roadblock with a bamboo, hoop, chair or bench. Then they were asked to overcome the obstacles. 3 ways - up and down, fast and quiet, and with nothing and without.

Musical marker: edit

Children will have to talk about music while walking. You have to walk behind, rolling down and rolling around. Whenever the music stops, they will be able to find a floor marker. Then all the markers must be stored in a box to be kept out.

Tunnels and bridges : edit

Large and small children will be able to raise the tunnel with the help of the hand on the ground. Other children will go through this. Baraas can also create bridges with hands and knees. Children will try to get into that bridge.

Animal Games: edit

In this game, children will have to walk like animals or walk in gestures.

Like a bear: edit

Children walk on feet and hands and bear like a bear in the ground. Keep in mind that the hood does not seem to be on the ground. It may be more interesting to call a bear like a bear.

Crab like: edit

The children are sitting on the ground by breaking the knot. Then lightly tilt the body backwards and put it on the back and waist. Slowly so around.

Frog Jump: edit

By this game the children will learn how to use wash room .The children love this frog jump game very much.Generally in this game parents and teachers help them, cooperate with them so that the children can develop themselves swiftly.

2 percent of the total Population In Bangladesh Is Disabled. As Such, About 3.2 million people can be considered intellectually disabled. Everyone Needs Cooperation in the population. In 1968 an International organization was established as the name of Special Olympics[4] to make an honorable position for intellectuals through sports activities. In 1994, this program was started in Bangladesh called Special Olympics Bangladesh[5]. In the past 9 years and above children and boys- Girls are being trained in sports training practice and competition. Intelligence is identified within 2 years of birth. So, from 2 years to 7 years, these Children need to increase Physical fitness to create opportunities for participation in sports activities.                                                                                                                                          

Conclusion edit

Special Olympics[6], for the last 7 Years, an event named Young Athletic Program[7] for disabled children has been added to the Special Olympics[8] program. After Identifying the Disability of the students, they should take part in the young Athlete Program[9] by learning with entertainment for increasing their physical ability. Parents, School teachers, volunteers[10] and sports trainers can organize a young Athletic program[11] with these children.

                                                      Young Athletes Program[12] can be done at home, in the verandah, in the courtyard on the field, at school. In 2016 Special Olympics Bangladesh[13] attached 2000 Athlete and in 2017 Special Olympics Bangladesh[14] 10000 Athlete. In 2018, 10000 Children are being attached to the Young Athlete Program[15]. After 2/3 years, physically qualified children will be trained from these children in different sports.

It is not possible to conclude the importance of playing the game of young athletes. Because these young athletes follow their regular routine, their fitness becomes 100% correct. This is not a made word. Many of our children are his flaming proofs. Our children were very weak before and were not able to sport. But as a result of the practice of young athletes, they are now participating in sports from outside to win gold. Today they are proud of Bangladesh. All of them hope for big kids in Bangladesh with great expectations. And people are equal to their hope.

so , we can say that Special Olympics Bangladesh is playing a pivotal role to improve the skills of Special Children. Actually this Young Athlete Program is very helpful for the ID( Intellectually Disabled) children because it helps to make their body and mentality rapidly and incredibly . That is why this program is recommended for the ID Children . Actually Young athlete program gradually develop the kids so that they can run well , walk well and so on .
