The Carnival Dogs are a rock band from Falkirk in Central Scotland. The idea for the band formed initially in 2009 when guitarist/vocalist Iain McMurtrie registered and took part in the 2009 RMP Challenge. The line-up also consists of bassist Gavin Hynes.

History

The idea for the band formed initially in 2009 when guitarist/vocalist Iain McMurtrie registered and took part in the 2009 RMP Challenge. Simply put the RPM Challenge sets musicians/bands the challenge to write and record an album of songs within 28 days. It was realised early on during the challenge that there was no way an album would be complete within the 28 day time frame however using this as a starting point Iain decided to continue writing songs which in turn led to the creation of The Carnival Dogs. Off the initial twelve demos written during this time period, eight of the songs would eventually make it onto the bands debut album. Iains friend and former band member Gavin Hynes was brought on board to handle the bass guitar.

Sounds And Influences

The bands sound is primarily rock based with several influences such as metal and grunge being heard throughout their songs. The band also has a love of the acoustic unplugged sound that can also be heard in their music. The bands influences are varied but have a love of the hard rock bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam and other bands such as The Doors and Seasick Steve. The list goes on.

Recording

In 2011 the band independently released their self titled debut album and are currently in the process of recording their follow up second album to be released late 2012/early 2013.
