The Pineapple

edit

The pineapple is a tropical fruit that is of the genus ananas and belongs to the Bromeliaceae family.[1] The first two areas of growth of the pineapple were in South America and the left bank of the Amazon.[1] In 1493, Christopher Columbus discovered the pineapple in Guadeloupe and discovered that there were multiple uses for this fruit by the Southern Americans such as medicinal uses and even war weapon uses.[2] It was not until the 19th century in Hawaii that commercial transportation began, and since then, the pineapple has continued to hold high demand on the international market.[2]
