The Mowhay Radio is a Cornish internet radio station hosted by Gabriel Lucas-Green. The station was founded on 14 January 2011. Broadcast every Friday at the British time of 7:30pm, the show contains banter from the host, music including song requests[1] from its listeners and games[2] such as the 'Secret Sound' and 'Quick Quiz'. The show also occasionally has guest co-presenters. Poppy Watt, Lewie Chandler, Caitlin Eley and Jake Wyatt have all been co-presenters on the show.

The show plays a wide selection of musical genres including pop, rock, soul, R&B, jazz, musical theatre, folk, dance and rock and roll.

Background

edit

The show was first aired on 14 January 2011 and broadcast every Friday from then on. The original two games were the 'Secret Sound', where a sound of an object is played and listeners guess what the object might be, and the 'Celebrity Voice', where a recording of a celebrity saying a random word or phrase was played backwards and the aim was to guess who the celebrity was, and maybe even what they were saying. This game was eventually replaced with the current game called 'Quick Quiz'. In this new game, an easy question is asked by the host and the listeners have to answer as quickly as they can. The person with the first correct answer is the winner.

On Friday 2 September 2011, voice overs for The Mowhay Radio recorded by Peter Dickson (the voice of E4, The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, and many other TV and radio shows), were played on the show for the very first time.
