History of Queen Elizabeth College
editFounded in 1950,the QEC is renowned for nurturing hard work enhanced by a mutuality of respect and care in young students. With Mrs Maya Balgobin as rector of the college for a long period of time, classes were called after precious stones and gems instead of the traditional 'A, B, C, D',namely, Beryl, Garnet, Jade, Onyx, Pearl and Ruby. She also changed the school badge to a metal material with a crown representation on it with permission of Buckingham.
