Personal Life

edit

Shary Cheyenne[1][2] Reeves was born in May 1969 in Cologne,[3] to Kenyan professor Joseph Major Nyasani and Tanzanian nurse Susan Nyasani (née Raphael Mtenga).[3][4] Her father grew up in Kisii, later studying in Cologne and breaking a 300-year-old record there by writing his PhD dissertation in Latin in 1963.[5][6] Her parents met in Cologne, while his father worked at building the African division of Deutsche Welle, married there and had 4 children.[3] Later, her parents split, with her father returning to Nairobi in Kenia. The children remained in Germany with their mother, but were placed in foster families because Shary's mother was overburdened with the situation.[5] She grew up in a foster family together with one of her younger brothers, calling her foster-parents her "grandparents".[3]
