Trey XL was born Trevor Simbarashe Matsvairo,Raised in a middle density suburb called Hatfield in Harare.
He attended 7 different education institute's through out his education career.That experience alone gave him a diverse character he uses to relate to people from different walks of life through his musical art.
Early years
Trey started off as a singer and songwriter who later on evolved into a wordsmith rapper and producer.
He recorded 2 mixtapes (Just Before & Unplugged) from his friends bedroom L Mega who produced most of the beats on the 2 projects.
One of the mixtapes caught the ear of Elton Bryce a well renowned producer,A&R and business mogul.
Trey XL got a record deal making him the 2nd rapper signed under the label Bryce Nation after the late emcee Amelia.
Under the label Bryce Nation Trey XL recorded an Ep entitled "fresh president" which got him his first ZIMA nomination under the "best hip hop music"category and also a Zim Hip-hop Award nomination for "best new comer".
In 2016 Trey got nominated again for his upcoming album "MindOverMatter" at the ZIMA7 award ceremony were he also pulled a massive performance of his hit single "Take a look".
In December 2015 X as his fans call him challenged himself by announcing on Twitter that he would write and record an EP in 48 hours.
In January 2016 the label Bryce Nation released the project "Occupational Hazard which had 8 tracks all written and recorded within 48 hours.
