User:Lmc99/Moonlight Basin Summary

Moonlight Basin Resort is part of Big Sky Resort, located in Big Sky, Montana. In October 2013, it was bought by Boyne Resorts and merged with Big Sky Resort and the Spanish Peaks.[1] It features 5,850 skiable acres, 4,350 vertical feet, and 38 ski lifts.[2] It originally opened in 2003 on the north face of Lone Mountain, and features a wide variety of terrain.[3] Its main lift is a six-person high speed chair called Six Shooter.[4] Other lifts include the Headwaters Lift, which allows guests to access the extreme couloirs and chutes of the Headwaters Bowl.[5] It features four other lifts and one conveyer-style lift at its base, totalling up to seven lifts.

In 2009, Moonlight Basin filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection[6]. It was subsequently bought by Boyne Resorts, who owned Big Sky Resorts, in 2013, and merged into one resort[1]. Guests, who previously could purchase the Lone Peak Pass to access both Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort, now only had to buy one lift ticket.[7]

Since much of Moonlight Basin acreage is important to a number of animal species, the original Moonlight Basin buyers have made dedicated much of the land to conservation. (no source on the og article page).
