[1] Personal blog records original research into the tragedy of two deaths in the early hours of 3 February 1940 in Port Hope Simpson. [2] The cause of the deaths is inextricably bound up with the history of the town's development as the eldest son of John Osborn Williams, the owner of the Labrador development company limited and his infant daughter died in suspicious, acrimonious circumstances. [3] The cause of their deaths is still not yet established. Wage cheques to the loggers and their families were unpaid. The local company manager was under suspicion of cheating Williams. A Government director of the company was hastily put in place and the sordid affair took on a quite remarkable cover-up involving those in high office. [4] The R.C.M.P. Serious Crimes Unit, Gander, Newfoundland has opened up its own investigation and any pertinent information can be past on to them via your local police force.
