The Lion and Unicorn Theatre is a small pub theatre above the Lion and Unicorn Public House, 42-44 Gaisford Street, Kentish Town.
History
editThe space above the pub was first converted into a theatre in 1995 by 'The Red Room' theatre company. It was opened as 'The Red Room' in October 1995 until the company left in 1996.[1] The theatre has also been known as 'The Lion and Unicorn Club'[2], and 'The Machine Rooms'[3]. The 'Giant Olive Theatre Company' is now resident at the theatre. Giant Olive Theatre Company is supported for vaious projects by Camden Council.[4]
The theatre has hosted a large number of productions for many theatre companies, including Thrill Seeker, Cheekish Productions, Little Everywhere, Atomick Productions, Wiggy Theatre Company, Blind Summit, Shunt Events, Brouhaha, National Theatre’s Archive and London South Bank University, The Spontaneity Shop, Interrupt The Routine and many others.[5]
